EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES BOARD
In 1980, a group of concerned volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians met with Izard County Quorum Court and requested permission to form an Emergency Medical Services District in Izard County.
The issue was placed on the 1980 general election and included an annual household fee to supplement operational expenses in attracting a professional full time emergency ambulance service. This fee is not an option and is collected along with the personal property taxes.
Presently three bases serve Izard County. Paramedic units located in Melbourne, Horseshoe Bend and Calico Rock provide twenty-four hour, seven-day weekly service for the County citizens.
The Emergency Medical Services Board is comprised of seven members. Those members are Mark Herrington, President; Wayne Lee, Secretary; Mitzi Ballman, Jessica Sanders, Dave Watts, Stevie Smith and Mike Warden. These positions are non-paying. They are responsible for selection of a professional ambulance service and working with that service to provide the best care for citizens of Izard County.
The Board welcomes your input. If assistance is needed contact the County Judge's secretary and she will put you in touch with a Board Member.
